I attended LavaCon 2012: Conference on Digital Media and Content Strategies in lovely Portland, OR in October. This is the first technical communication conference that I have attended that is not sponsored by the Society for Technical Communication (STC). I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and hope to repeat it in future years.
Several reviews and blogs about LavaCon 2012 capture the spirit and intensity of LavaCon 2012 quite well:
- WebWorks: Christopher Ward’s blog post LavaCon 2012 recap
- auralest A Portland-loving content strategist’s web journal
- Techwhirl Online magazines and discussion for today’s tech writer
You can follow LavaCon on Twitter with the #lavacon hashtag.
Most of the speaker slides are posted on slideshare.net. Search for LavaCon2012 to see 2012 sessions, or search on LavaCon to see sessions from all years.
I applaud the use of EventBoard, the mobile device conference program. Printed programs were provided, but the text for the calendar view of the schedule was too small for me to read. Big thumbs up for EventBoard!
Food was delicious, company excellent, location awesome, sessions well-done, speakers well-prepared, and talent abundant! Thank you everyone for contributing to an awesome conference.
